The W3YJ repeater has linked up to echo link to the Hurricane net in monitor mode. This will allow us to listen to it, and still retain the use of the repeater if we need to. So if you are a ham or have a scanner tune to 443.45 to hear the news of Hurricane[…]
I did not check into the traffic net last night, but when I checked in tonight, I was informed that the traffic I sent from Columbus Oh on Sep 30 arrived to the destination yesterday (October 9) That is about 10 days for it to be delivered. I would have thought it would have taken[…]
I submitted the TRAMA podcast to the iTMS to be listed in their podcast list, yesterday I did a search for it in their system and it was listed. This might help incease the number of poeple that will subscribe to it.
Last Friday I was in Columbus (as you can see from older posts) when I was there I hoped on their traffic net. I sent back a radio gram, a Radio Postcard if you will. And as of tonights traffic net it had not gotten here as of yet 🙁
The ARRL is reporting that the BPL test in the SWPA area is going to be stoped. They are citing the high cost of a full-scale BPL rollout and competition from cable and DSL service. This is good news, because BPL causes interference for both FEMA and Ham Radio. This is a great victory for[…]
The Scanner net’s Podcast is now up. This will be the last week I put an anoucement of it here. You can check it out at http://scanner.hamradiobb.com
I have gone to the Ohio Linux Fest. Got here around 7pm tonight. It is starting to look like it is going to be a great time. Also when I got in the Central Ohio group was having their Traffic net, so I thought I would send back to Pittsburgh a radio postcard to the[…]

I went on the bike ride I was working on getting together. I had only one person show up. It was still fun even though there were not many that showed up. But it did make it easier to get things together since both of us were hams and we were able to make contact[…]
Tomorrow (Sunday) is the bike ride, for any one that wants to go. This is mainly for hams, so meet around the North Shore around 2pm and give a call out to me (KB3HCG) on 147.48.
Well after all that work to get my info in the FCC database correct the final version of my License came in the mail. So tomorrow after work (or on my lunch break) I will go out to get the larger version of it framed and the wallet size one laminated for my wallet. I[…]
I finally got up to one of the ham clubs that I am a member of. It is the Panther Armature Radio Club or PARC. It was a good meeting we were talking about a camping trip some time in October, so that should be fun, a bunch of hams out in the woods being[…]
I tried to get some people interested in the bike ride tonight after the 88 traffic net tonight. But no one seemed to be interested. I am going to keep trying to get people interested. But here is some information about the ride for the hams that don’t get on the 88 traffic net. I[…]
I am thinking about seeing if I can get a bike ride going of the hams in the Pittsburgh area, I first mentioned it on the traffic net tonight. I came up with the idea when some one else on the traffic net said that he went for a nice bike ride today. I found[…]
We finished up the scanner net at 10:05 EDT tonight. I have then cut some of the empty space from in front of the net and behind the net off, but other than that I left it pretty much the way it came across the air. You can find the podcast at http://scanner.hamradiobb.com I have[…]
