Biking today.

Today I went biking with some friends from my church, and one of my Pastors, there were 5 of us. We biked down the Jail trail, then we headed over the Smithfield Street Bridge to for lunch at the Hard Rock. We returned via the south side trail and crossing over the Hot Metal Bridge.


It was a fun ride, I ended up getting some photos while on the trip, and since I did not want to slow every one down I took them while riding the bike. Well most of them, Ben got a hole in his bikes tire so we had to stop to fix that up. I got some pictures of the group working on the tire. First Friday at First Trinity

That was fun, tonight we had our “First Friday at First Trinity” I tried to make my mothers lose lasagna. I did not do well at it; I was very dissatisfied with it. Some of the others said it was good, but I was not happy with out it turned out, it did not taste right, it tasted fine, but it was nothing like my mothers.

Then after dinner we got down to the games. Did some poker (tournament style no real money used though, just chips and each person got the same amount to start with). Then I taught some of them a lesson on “Super Smash Bros. Melee. Then a game of pool with Matt.

After the game of pool with Matt, they had conspired to get me with a surprise, since my birthday is on the 9th. So they claimed that they were having network problems in the student study area. This is believable, since the other night I used the hub from there in another location, they did not know this though. So when I go in there to look I start to look up where the hub belongs, and start talking about what could be wrong. Then I look down at the desk and see this giant birthday card, and I turn and say “I am going to get you” at that point they start to sing the B-day song.

Why do people insist on posting hate comments even after I delete them? There been have too many as of late so far I had to ban 3 IP’s because I don’t wish to constantly monitor my web site. Oh well, I am sure after 3 weeks the emotions will clear up and people will not be trolling out of hate after that, I hope. For those of you who want to post hate, or swear words I will delete them!! No questions asked I do not have anything against censorship, I believe it is good to have a level of censorship and I will practice censorship on my web site as I see fit.

I am working on killing the number of errors in the error logs

I have been working on killing some of the errors in my error logs. I have not put up 404’s and 403’s pages for every site I host here. So today, I just put up some simple 404 and 403 pages; I should have done that from day one. Plus I put a robot.txt file for each site I host here up. In 4 cases they are just empty files. I just have to make 4 more faviocon.ico files that should get rid of some more of the error messages in the logs. Once the favicon.ico files are done the error logs should be useful to me.

Slashdot must have put new code up. I have been getting 503’s this morning over at Slashdot. The only website that is popular that does not test out their code befor putting it live.

This Saturday I have plans to go for a nice bike ride with a couple of my friends around the city. I hope to get some good pictures; I will post them here when I get them. It will be nice to get some pictures of the trails in Pittsburgh during the fall.

Only 25 more days until I am in the new apartment. It will be nice to have the bigger place. It will be nice not to have to crawl over my bed to get to my computers. Right since my current apartment is so small I am bound to have to clime over some object to get from one place to another place in the apartment. Another benefit of the new place is since it is right next to my church, which I am a sysadm at, and we have a wireless network there, I will be able to do some work on the network there from my home after the move.

I am going to have to start calling around to change my address with the companies that send me bill each month. Also I am going to have to get one of those change of address forms from the post office, so I can keep my mail coming to me.

Kerry concedes it’s over at lest we will not have another Florida 2000. Its over, we all can not rest easy. Well I hope that in 2 weeks we can get back to our normal lives. But I fear that the talking heads are going to go with this for months on end. Well lets see where things go. Now I turn my head to the next 2 big days in my life. Nov 9, I will then be 28, and Nov 27 I move to the new apartment.

Fox news is having it at 221 Bush and 133 Kerry, I will go so far to add another 55 to Kerry for California, there is now why on earth Bush could win California, but we only need 49 more Electoral votes now.

In responce to a question I got in my guest book I will make a statement of what Matins (and Vespers) is. They are liturgical prays of the day, there are 7 prayer offices. They are
Matins
Lauds
Terce

None
Vespers
Compline


My church, First Trinity Lutheran Church, offers Matins Sunday, and Tuesday thur Friday
My church also offers Saterday night Vespers
These are liturgical prayer offices. When I am at home I use both “The Lutheran Hymnal” and the “The Daily Office” edited by Herbert Lindemann (CPH 1961, very hard to get a copy of this book)

Matins (from TLH) follows this order as typed up at the folks at lutheranhymnal.com

I will also pray them at home myself. Using both TLH and TDO
