Well today at church the 3 trustee’s stayed after church, to do some work on the “serving” room upstars. It needs to be done soon since 2 people in our church will be getting married at the end of this month, and the reseption will be in the church. We spent the day striping more paint off of the cabinats and sanding them, so that they can get a new coat of paint soon.

Well as I posted a few days ago, the Wards just had their baby. Well today that child now has been welcomed in to the church via the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. The child is now a child of God. The child’s old Adam has now been drowned in the waters of baptism, and a new child has been born again.

Got a bit of a bike ride in today

Well today I went out for a bit of a bike ride. I figured it would be a good way to try to get use to the new pedals on the bike. I was not really prepared for them today, I went down twice as I tried to get out of them while stopping. I have a nice new scare on my left knee to show for it, and my left wrist hurts a bit, but all in all, I think I am starting to get use to them. I am just glad I was on the trails when I fell, and not in the middle of the road at the time, thank God for major favors. I only got 27 miles in today.

Well it looks like the Tour De France starts tomorrow. There is no way I can watch it live, but I have set my DVR to record it every morning. So I will be able to watch ever night when I get home. Today I heard that some riders were barred for using drugs. Is there not a sport that drugs will not destroy? I read that something like 9 racers are now out.

A couple of Political Jokes

I got this one in the email from a friend
—–
The Pope took a couple of days off to visit the mountains of Alaska for
some sight-seeing. He was cruising along the campground in the Pope mobile
when there was a frantic commotion just at the edge of the woods. A
helpless Democrat, wearing sandals, shorts, a “Save the Whales” hat, and a
“To Hell with Bush” T-shirt, was screaming while struggling frantically,
thrashing around trying to free himself from the grasp of a 10 foot
grizzly.

As the Pope watched horrified, a group of Republican loggers came racing
up. One quickly fired a .44 magnum into the bear’s chest… The other two
reached up and pulled the bleeding, semiconscious Democrat from the bear’s
grasp. Then using long clubs, the three loggers finished off the bear and
two of them threw it onto the bed of their truck while the other tenderly
placed the injured Democrat in the back seat.

As they prepared to leave, the Pope summoned them to come over. “I give
you my blessing for your brave actions!” he told them. “I heard there was
a bitter hatred between Republican loggers and Democratic Environmental
activists but now I’ve seen with my own eyes that this is not true”

As the Pope drove off, one of the loggers asked his buddies “Who was that
guy?” “It was the Pope,” another replied. “He’s in direct contact with
heaven and has access to all wisdom.” “Well,” the logger said, “he may
have access to all wisdom but he sure doesn’t know anything about bear
hunting! By the way, is the bait holding up, or do we need to go back to
Massachusetts and snatch another one?”

The following one I got from a friend/co-worker
—–
Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing. He
concludes
by saying: “Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed in an accident”
“OH DEAR GOD NO!!!” George W. Bush exclaims. “That’s terrible!!” His
staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as
the
president sits, head in hands. Finally, the President, devastated,
looks
up and asks………. “How many is a Brazillion??!”

Trying to get something together for July 4

I am trying to get a few friends together for July 4th this year. I am hoping to go biking with some friends, stop for some lunch as some out of the way place, and end up at the North Shore to watch the Fire Works this year. If I could get that done, I would be really happy. But even if I can not get any one on board for it, I will still do the biking and watch the fire works at the North Shore.

Well I headded up to Bike Tek today today because I need new tires and breaks for my bike. My back tire had no tred left. And my breaks had no breaking power left in it. While I was up there I decided to spoile my self too, I picked up some clipless pedels and the showes I needed for them. I spent more then I care to admit here, but probably more then I needed to, but I did need the new tires and breaks, those were safty issues.

It seems the more I get caught up on things the farther I fall behind on staying on top of things. I keep getting things in my todo list, and it seems that the list grows faster then I can knock things off of it. One of these days, I will be able to site down and say my todo list is done, but the way it is looking that will not be for years and years.

I heard something today, that makes me nervous

I have a friend who’s son got hit by a car. Today he said he found out that in a pedestrian vs car accident, the car insurance of the pedestrian is responsible for the medical bills. I sure hope that he misquoted or was give bad info. My question is if he has right information, what happens to people that don’t own cars, and therefor do not have auto insurance. I think if that is the case it is a stupid idea, not every one has car insurance because there is no reason to have one if you don’t own a car.
I have put a call into my insurance agent to see what the true facts are, and if what I hear was right how can I protect myself, I have learned one thing in the last 2 and a half years of biking, and that is people in cars either don’t see other people that are not in cars, or they try to hit people that are not in cars.
I should also note that the kid is going to be fine.

Bulletins and Hymnals at church

Well my church just changed over from using the hymnals during the service to printing up the service in the bulletin. I do not like it much. I have let a few people know that I don’t like it nor will I be using it. They have changed the liturgy. Also the Gradual, intro, and anything else I really need, except for the hymns they may use from outside the hymnal. So I will stick to using the hymnal for myself.
They are saying that it is to make it easer on the people in church, my opinion is rather then make it easer but teach people how to use the hymnal. The hymnal is a very powerful tool to use, not just for the church service and hymns, but there are other good uses for the hymnal. There is some nice service that can be used at home, such as Matins and Vespers (I do, do Vespers myself at home) It also has a list of reading for every day of the year.

Up at the Easter District Conference CPH was there. They had a book out that was a collection of Hymns written by one Rev. Stephen P. Starke. I picked it up with the hope that it my have a few tunes I could play with on my Irish Tin Whistle. Also Rev. Starke was up there for the presentation on the new hymnal that the synod is putting together. So I was able to get Rev. Starke to sign my copy of the book.
Now all that is left to do is go though the book and find the tunes in it, that are in the key of D or G.
For those of you that might be interested the books title is “O Sing of Christ” and the ISBN number is 0-7586-0936-1
