Mistake on my bike ride to work today

As the temperatures are going down I don’t think I want to wear shorts in the morning. So I put on my jeans, but that was a big mistake I did not know it really till the ride home, but since there was no room in the leg, the bike ride home was not comfortable, as I tried to bike up a simple hill, the jeans did not give room for my legs, and it fell like something was going to give, ether the legs to the jeans or my leg mussels, it was not pleasant. I ended up walking my bike up Neville St. I need to get some new jeans soon since I don’t have any that my legs can fit into.

Today I was looking in the Caliban book store on Craig St. I was looking though the religion section and I find the book “Martin Luther’s Basic Theological writings” for only $12. What a sweet deal.

Robert’s Rules of Order Hell

Well this weekend has been a bit tedious. On Saturday WPLUG had our nomination meeting, and for the first time in a year we finally had a quorum, so we had a year of business for the members to have to deal with. It was no fun.
Well today my churches monthly operating board meeting happened, it was not that bad, it is not that bad usually since it happens every month there is not much to have to do. I was also set to be one of the delegates for my church to the PALM meeting today.
In total this weekend I spent about 5 hours in meetings. The good news now is I don’t have to worry about another meeting like these till next month when WPLUG has it’s voters meeting (If you are a member of WPLUG, please show up we have 2 ballot issues and elections of the board to do, so it will behoove you to be there.)

Organ Donation

I wish to pose a question. This question came from a response to this post titled “A simple ethics question” The person posed this statement

"shouldn't this be more strongly equated with organ donation
from a dead adult without their concent (but obviously from their
family) in order to save the lives of living people who are suffering
from possibly curable diseases?"

To this statement I have this to say

to the taking of organs against the wishes of the person that
has passed away. I would say that if highly unethical, and this day
n age if you have a drivers license they will ask you when you get it
or when you renew it if you want to be a donor (well at lest in PA) so
unless the person has indicated they wanted to be a donor, then the
organs should be left. (side note, I know being an organ donor is a
very good thing, in fact my church bode encourages it, see
http://www.lcms.org/pages/internal.asp?NavID=2118 , but I
am very uncomfortable with the thought of it and I have declined
that, I know I am being a bit selfish, but I can not get over the
uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my gut when I think about it, I
have tried to over come it but can not, so I would hope that people
would honor my wishes of not taking my organs after I leave this
world for the heavenly realm) Even if the family is willing to give
the organs unless the person in life has said yes, to take them would
be a hoard unethical act.

This was on a different subject but the subject of Organ Donation I think deserves its own post, here is that post. I would love to see what my readers think. So here is the question should a person be an organ donation, what would you say to some one that is uncomfortable with the thought of being a donor?

The new Hockey season comming up

Well last year they changed the rules to hockey, and I really hate the new rules. Also the penguins might be getting profits from the slots when they come, and I don’t think I can really do business with a company (and make no mistake about it sport teams are companies) that profits from something that is morally reprehensible.
If it was not for the rule changes, I could have just picked a different team to follow and cheer for, but with the new rules I don’t think that is an option for me either.

I can not believe this

One of the episodes of South Park I got from the apple store is “Cartoon Wars Part 2” I can not believe that Comedy Central even blacked the image of mohammed on the for sell versions. They must really believe that the moslems are a major danger to them.
I still say it is very telling on a religion when a station is willing to broadcast all kinds of insulting stuff to all other religions: be it Christian, mormons, jahova witness, scientology. But to even show an image of the god of the moslems scares them to much (yes I know officially mohammed is not the god of the moslems, but they way they treat allah and mohammed, you can blaspheme allah, but you can not even say one thing against mohammed, that says a lot about which one is their god)

I just got 6 South Park episodes from the apple music store, about 200MB each. 1.2GB in one night. But they are some of the better shows (also some of the more controversial ones from this season also.) from South Park, I had the record on my DVR, but it might be nice to have the on the iPod, I have a cable that will let me display them on the TV, so I can still watch them on my TV. While downloading those, iTunes is still getting the artwork for my mp3’s that I ripped from my CD’s.

I just got the new iTunes from the software from the software update, I think some of the new additions look nice, I like the feature where it will get the artwork for the mp3’s I have that were not purchased via the iTunes music store. I have ripped many CD’s to my iTunes collection and now it will have the art work for them.

I got a new iPod today

I had to take my old iPod 2Gb Nano down to the apple store because the buttons where not working. If you tried to use the click wheel it would not respond. If I pressed any of the other buttons they would not respond. The only thing that would work is if I pressed the Select and Menu buttons I could reboot it, but other then that the Select and Menu buttons would not work if pressed separately. Also if I put the hold button on then take it off the iPod would reboot.
I got the Nano back in March, so I took it back to see if they could fix it, I had tried to restore the thing before. So the tech down there looked at it tried a few things, then verified the date I got the iPod, then replaced it. It was a strange way for the iPod to fail. Oh well I got a new one so I can continue to listen to my podcasts at work.

Here is yet another song I have played on my Tin Whistle. Stricken Smitten and Afflicted. enjoy >:-D I have been working on this one, it has a lot of 1/8 notes, so I don’t think it really is going to sound too good, but I hope to use this tune to get myself comfortable with the 1/8 notes.

I went to the Pittsburgh Irish Festival today, I meet up with my Mother, Sister and her husband. My mother got me a T-Shirt with the following text on it “Pasta & Potatoes Italian and Irish” I just love the shirt. (My mother is 50% Italian, and as my mother tells me that the 25% Italian I have in my blood is the largest % of anything in my blood.)

Well as of Friday (Sep 8) I went past 900 miles on my way to the goal of 1000 miles biked this year. I am wondering something when I hit the 1K mark should I just put “1000 miles goal reached” or should I just keep accumulating the numbers over 1000.

A music section for my web site

I am probably going to put up a separate section for my music that I have recorded of my playing my Tin Whistle. I just have to find a good php web app to put up to manage it. Yes I am lazy and don’t want to have to write a web page for it for every new mp3 I put up. I know coppermine can do it, but it is not really setup to do audio file sharing, it is really good for pictures, but the problem with it is that it really does not display file names.
I should note I don’t want to do it in podcast style.
