I have started to look at music for Christmas. I know of a group from my church that does some singing one day in December. Last year someone said that she would like some music. Well I have gotten the sheet with the songs on them. I am going to see if I can get the sheet music to some of the, and see if I can get practice on them, to see if I can get ok on them with the Tin Whistle.
I also had a friend from church over, he and I went over the list of 40 songs and decided which ones would be best Voice only, with the Tin Whistle, with a Piano (he can play the Piano), or with both (Whistle and Piano)
Now I have to start practicing the songs I have the music to, and see if I can get the sheet music in the key of D or G for the songs I don’t have and start to practice them.
It took us 2 hours to just go though them. and now we have still a bit more work to do.

At the beginning of the biking season I said I would like to see if I could reach 1000 miles this year. Well as of last Wednesday (yes I wanted to put this up, I have been very busy as of late) not only did I reach that goal but I also started going over that goal, I wonder how far I will get to this year, and then maybe I can add a couple hundred miles to that for next years goal.

This is a picture I got with me sitting next to Maddog. He was there to give the opening speech and the closing Key Note speech. I did not get to talk to him much, but the little I did get to, he seemed to be a nice guy.

I have to go though them and see which ones are worth keeping, which ones that need to be touched up (adjustment of light) I will post them as soon as I can. I have some other things I want to post on and I will get to them later.

I am going to be going to the Ohio Linux Fest in Columbus Ohio this weekend, which includes Sunday morning. I am hoping I can find some very important information (well to me) I would still like to make a church service this week, so if any one knows of a church in Columbus Ohio that meets the following criteria I would love to hear about it.

  • LCMS
  • Confessional
  • Liturgical
  • The Eucharist being offered this coming Sunday

Other things that would be a great plus for me (but are not needed, just preferred)

  • With in Walking distance from the Columbus Convention Center
  • Uses TLH
  • Uses the one year lectionary

I hate it when I go to a web site, and one of the stupid ads start to make noise, it is the most annoying thing on the web at this time. But today I was over at cnet, as I we reading my eye got distracted to one of those stupid ads, but this time there was something different, at the bottom of it, it had text to “click here to play this ad with sound.” For that aI have to give cnet a thumbs up for not having audio on the ads with out asking the users.

Mistake on my bike ride to work today

As the temperatures are going down I don’t think I want to wear shorts in the morning. So I put on my jeans, but that was a big mistake I did not know it really till the ride home, but since there was no room in the leg, the bike ride home was not comfortable, as I tried to bike up a simple hill, the jeans did not give room for my legs, and it fell like something was going to give, ether the legs to the jeans or my leg mussels, it was not pleasant. I ended up walking my bike up Neville St. I need to get some new jeans soon since I don’t have any that my legs can fit into.

Robert’s Rules of Order Hell

Well this weekend has been a bit tedious. On Saturday WPLUG had our nomination meeting, and for the first time in a year we finally had a quorum, so we had a year of business for the members to have to deal with. It was no fun.
Well today my churches monthly operating board meeting happened, it was not that bad, it is not that bad usually since it happens every month there is not much to have to do. I was also set to be one of the delegates for my church to the PALM meeting today.
In total this weekend I spent about 5 hours in meetings. The good news now is I don’t have to worry about another meeting like these till next month when WPLUG has it’s voters meeting (If you are a member of WPLUG, please show up we have 2 ballot issues and elections of the board to do, so it will behoove you to be there.)

Organ Donation

I wish to pose a question. This question came from a response to this post titled “A simple ethics question” The person posed this statement

"shouldn't this be more strongly equated with organ donation
from a dead adult without their concent (but obviously from their
family) in order to save the lives of living people who are suffering
from possibly curable diseases?"

To this statement I have this to say

to the taking of organs against the wishes of the person that
has passed away. I would say that if highly unethical, and this day
n age if you have a drivers license they will ask you when you get it
or when you renew it if you want to be a donor (well at lest in PA) so
unless the person has indicated they wanted to be a donor, then the
organs should be left. (side note, I know being an organ donor is a
very good thing, in fact my church bode encourages it, see
http://www.lcms.org/pages/internal.asp?NavID=2118 , but I
am very uncomfortable with the thought of it and I have declined
that, I know I am being a bit selfish, but I can not get over the
uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my gut when I think about it, I
have tried to over come it but can not, so I would hope that people
would honor my wishes of not taking my organs after I leave this
world for the heavenly realm) Even if the family is willing to give
the organs unless the person in life has said yes, to take them would
be a hoard unethical act.

This was on a different subject but the subject of Organ Donation I think deserves its own post, here is that post. I would love to see what my readers think. So here is the question should a person be an organ donation, what would you say to some one that is uncomfortable with the thought of being a donor?

The new Hockey season comming up

Well last year they changed the rules to hockey, and I really hate the new rules. Also the penguins might be getting profits from the slots when they come, and I don’t think I can really do business with a company (and make no mistake about it sport teams are companies) that profits from something that is morally reprehensible.
If it was not for the rule changes, I could have just picked a different team to follow and cheer for, but with the new rules I don’t think that is an option for me either.
