First about a month ago where I work sent me to training for React, at that time after class I wrote up a a web site for my streaming stuff. While I did get it up, I was not fully happy with it, I don’t like the language of React it felt clunky and I don’t like how you have to put the HTML code inside the ES code area. Well last week they sent me to training in Angular. One thing I really liked was that the HTML and ES code are split between the files, so the code does not get ugly. So I fully rewrote the site in Angular. True there is more code then the React version, it a lot cleaner looking and more readable. And it feels it will be easier to update and implent more features for the site in the future, and it will be easy to add it to the site.

While I still prefure a language in the C family, between React and Angular I much more prefur Angular over React.

Well as of today, I weighed in at 175 pounds, so as of today I have lost 125 pounds in this indever. I still have 21 pounds till I reach my goal. I will also say medicly once I loss another 25 pounds I will TECHNICLY no longer be over weight (according to the NIH for the US I should be between 114 to 154 pounds to be a healthy weight. I am only 5 foot 6 inch.)

Yesterday I tried on a pair of 36″ waist pants and while they were a bit tight, they did fit.

I been for the last serveral months worked on lossing weight. I let my weight get out of hand, back on March 31 of this year I hit 300 pounds, and for someone that is only 5’6″ that is far to much. Today I weighed in at only 202 pounds. I still have a long way to go, but as of today I have lost 98 pounds. I still have 79 pounds to go, but at this point I am past the 1/2 way mark on the amount of weight I need to loss.

Well the news lately is that Nintendo has shutdown the ability for people to download games they paid for for their Wii. So people gave money to nintendo for nothing. But with physical you don’t have to worry about a company just decided remove your rights for what ever reason. This another reason to fear the digital only future.

The other day I was at a Retro game store, and asked the guy that worked there if they had a copy of Hydro Thunder a game I played a lot in the late 90s at the arcade when I was in colage. They did, true I had to buy a N64 for to play it, but here we are 20+ years later and I was able to get a game I remember and enjoyed. Now imagin if you will in 10 years someone looking to play a game they enjoyed in the past and also imagin it was a digiatal only game on the Wii, well that game is forever lost to history. But for me since I was looking for a game that had a physical game I was able to spend the money for the game (and in my case the money for the console also since I did not have a N64)

For a while I was excited to get the Diabloe 2 game that they are releasing, but then I found out they will not be doing a physical copy. And that right there stopped me from getting the game. I will not buy a digital only game.

Bought a new domain, and the spam phone calls are annoying

I been streaming lately. And I bought a domain name for my streaming activities. And today I have gotten 5 calls so far from scammers claiming to be web developers wanting me to higher them to build my website. Why would I even bother higher a web developer that does a cold call. I am a web developer so I don’t need someone else to do it. I been telling them to stop calling me, then T-Mobile has a app to report scam calls. And any “web developer” that would cold call anyone with a new domain is a scammer, so I been 1) blocking their phone number, and 2) reporting the scammers to T-Mobile.

A while back I got the eeors wireless access points for my home network, But I have been increassing disastified with them as they do not support VLAN. So yesterday I invested in some Unifi wireless access points. First they do support VLAN. Next it does not require a app on my cell phone to manage (been working on reducing the number of apps I “HAVE” to have installed on my cell phone) and then lastly it will be nice to manage the access points from the same system I manage my router, and manage switches from.

Well if you needed even more reason to leave social media

This artical, talks about how the dems, are using social media to supress the 1st admendment. The sad thing is these social media giants are more then happy to go along with them. The more and more I read about things like this the more and more I am glad I deleted my social media accounts.

Remember how you were a nut if you thought the lab leak theory of the china flu was valid, but now that what they think.

Also notice how the people that want to censor idea or people they don’t like they always say it for your own good

“Oh these posts can kill people as it not the correct info for covid” — bidin adminstration

“Oh these books will send you to hell if you read them” — church of rome (when Luther, or Galilo published their ideas)

“Oh it for the children” — People against Video games, comic books, TV (or anything they don’t like)

Mind you I am not making judgment on truth values of what is being said, or what is being blocked, I am just saying cencorship of any type is bad. And also I am saying the 1st admendment does not have an exception for if a democrate does not like what is being said, or if it goes against a administration desired narative.

I guess the dems would have been ok with the book burnings of the in Germany in the 1930’s too.

Well it has been over a month and a half since I ditched chrome for the brave browser, and it been very good. When I was using chrome my Load average was alwasy pegged at 6 and above, with the brave browser it is going as low as 2. It is nice to have a second system blocking tracking and ads (along with my pi hole) I would highly recomend it to anyone not just for the blocking it has built in, but for how much nicer it is on the CPU and it does not use as much memory. It less of a resource hog then chrome is.

Glad I have my T-Mobile hotspot setup for a fail over connection

Well this morning Verizon has a total network outage where I live. A while back I setup my USG to use my T-Mobile hotspot as a fail over network. So I still have internet but burning though my data plan on the hotspot faster then I thought even with not streaming any video or music. In 2 hours I have used 3Gbytes of data. I should look into getting a second internet connection instead of my hotspot for when things like this happen, instead of destroying my data plan on the hotspot (only have 10GB on the data plan, or maybe updating to the 30BG plan but I would loss the data stash, probably should call T-Moblie to explore the options later today.)

But this has shown me even more the importance of having physical copies of my Entertainment be it my CDs or my DVD/Bluerays as I can still watch my shows, or listen to my music when I don’t have access to streaming services.

Setting up a DDNS script to update a DNS entry at Digital Ocean.

Well I have a VPN end point into my home network. But the issue has been the changing IP address you get with home networks, and Verizon charges to much for a static IP (I don’t want to go to a business account) So I found this site http://rizwanansari.net/digital-ocean-dynamic-dns/ that has a script for doing it. Then using this site https://michaelryom.dk/custom-ddns-on-ubiquiti-usg/?doing_wp_cron=1621004472.1860389709472656250000 I setup the following cron job on my Unifi router

0 */12 * * * /config/scripts/post-config.d/create-ddns

So now the script from the first site runs every 12 hours, at midnight and noon. So now when I connect I have a static host name to use that is updated every 12 hours with what ever my IP address is. Makes connecting my cell phone to my home network easy (using OpenVPN) plus I get all the anti-tracking and anti-ads that my Pi-hole has.
