OK as I have posted in the past I am trying to learn the Irish Tin Whistle. Well today, I tried recording one tune. It is not very good, in fact it is just down right wrong the way I killed the tune on the Whistle but here goes. Click here if you want your ears to bleed it is the tune I tried to play. If you want you can leave some criticisms about it, but posts of “you suck” and the like will be deleted, since 1) I know that already, 2) they don’t help me get better.
But do remember I am a beginner and an adult (They say it is easier for a child to learn an instrument then an adult) trying to learn an instrument, not the easiest thing to do, but some day I might be half good.

You did good. Don’t be so hard on yourself. With an instrument like that, the tiny mistakes you make give it an air of antiquity. Played perfectly, it would sound computerish, something computer musicians work desperately to avoid. There’s one slur (musical slur, not emotional slur!), for example, that I don’t think you intended. You might want to practice that effect!
Good job. Decent recording, too. What sound recording program are you using? Mics?
I’d add a touch of reverb. Of course, I add reverb to just about everything. Usually it’s intentional, but there’s this one recording of toads calling I did where I forgot to turn off the reverb…. Listening to the recording, you’d swear you’re there in the concert hall listening to the toads.
Too bad you were supposed to swear you were outdoors listening to the toads.
Thanks for the kind words, I am hoping that by this time next year I can play the tunes at normal speed.
As to the program I used, I used Garage Band on the mac (hence my post before this one, the mac kept freezing up on me)
And no I did not mean for the slur in the music, wow you are good, I can not even hear it when I re-listen to it.
Also I don’t think at this time I will be editing any recording I do of my playing, maybe when I get better, but not now.
Ok, maybe slur was the wrong word. Listening to it again, I think what I was trying to point out is the three note “trill.” I remembered it only as the lower note into the upper, but it’s actually the upper into the lower into the upper.
Anyway, I liked it. I’ve heard a lot about garage band. I’m a Windoze user, so of course I go with Sonar.
Well what you are discribing is a slur, and I do belive you, I just don’t hear it, I do have to listen again, and maybe when I get better things like that will be more obvious to me. And you are right there are no slurs in that pice of music, I must have made a mistake. That I have to work on, along with timing and 1/8 notes. But one day I will be good, how can I say this, well because I want to be good at it.
